Marit Stiles and Amanda Robertson Bay of Quinte deserves stronger local schools that set kids up for success

BELLEVILLE, ON – As Ontario students return to school, Bay of Quinte NDP candidate Amanda Robertson and Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles are calling on Doug Ford to make Bay of Quinte kids their priority.

"The government needs to make education a priority," said Stiles. "It's September, and while kids are back in school, the same old problems haven’t been addressed.”

Funding for teachers and special needs education workers, staffing and mental health support and reliable transportation are just some of the issues schools across Ontario are facing.

“The Conservatives had all summer to make crucial investments in hiring more teachers and education workers to ensuring we had bus drivers to get to kid's schools. Instead, we've seen a government that continues to choose cuts over the children of this province. It's time for change, and Amanda is type of leader that is ready to make sure the politicians of Queens Park do what’s right by the kids of Bay of Quinte," said Stiles.

Amanda Robertson, who is running to be the next MPP of Bay of Quinte, says that the stories she's hearing from parents are heartbreaking.

"Students are missing school because there aren't enough drivers to get them there. Our students, teachers, and communities deserve much better than this. We need to fix this broken system, and we need urgent investment in our schools. At the doors, people are telling me they want better. They want more support, and they're tired of their needs being ignored. That’s why I'm running: to make sure our children in Bay of Quinte receive the support and resources they deserve."
