MPP Catherine Fife nominated as NDP candidate for Waterloo

WATERLOO – MPP Catherine Fife was chosen by New Democrats in Waterloo to be the Ontario NDP candidate in the next provincial election.

“I'm feeling honoured by this nomination and energized from the excitement that Waterloo New Democrats are bringing tonight,” said Fife. “I'm so proud to fight for the things that matter most to our Waterloo community at home and in Queen’s Park. From demanding all-day, two-way GO service, to helping farmers in Wilmot raise their voice to protect their land, I’m right by your side in fighting for the things that matter most. The time for better is now”.

“I’m so proud and pleased to have Catherine on our team”, said Marit Stiles, Leader of the Ontario NDP. “She’s tenacious in holding Ford and his finance minister to account, and incredibly compassionate in fighting for seniors, farmers, students, and sexual assault survivors. She’s fighting for you – now let’s fight to get her elected.”

Background

  • Catherine Fife was first elected as a Member of Provincial Parliament in 2012 and is the Finance critic for the Ontario NDP.
  • Fife’s recent legislation includes the Til Death Do Us Part Act to keep seniors together in LTC, and Lydia’s Law, which would help sexual assault survivors seek justice.
